Between the Lure Lodge and the Main Building is an expansive outdoor patio with a fantastic view of the Lake.  I was able to capture this view in the early morning light.

This was my first attempt at capturing Lake Cumberland and I started it my first evening at the park.  I returned the next several sunsets so this image benefits from multiple sessions.  Unplanned, but so striking, was the full moon rising during this time.

The daylight through the tree canopy at the Park always seems to be magical.  I was trying to capture the energy, patterns, and different colors in the afternoon Fall light.

Old Rowena

This is one of my first paintings of Lake Cumberland at the end of the  road that deadends along the reservior.  The town of Rowena had been located at this site before construction of the dam.

Near the archery range, I wanted to emphasis horizontal movement through the vertical tree trunks; creating a rhythmic pattern.

Most of my explorations were in the Northeast end of the Park where the bulk of the infrastructure has been built.  I was really curious about the dam area at the far end of the Lake and on my last November morning took the 10 mile drive to view that area, resulting in this study.
